University of Manchester · since 2020

Learn, organise, and show up for Palestine.

We are a student society running talks, film nights, a book club and campaigns across campus and the city. Everyone is welcome — students, staff and anyone in Manchester who wants to turn up.

The divestment vote

94%

of the 4,831 students who voted backed cutting the University’s ties with Tel Aviv University. It remains the clearest thing the student body has said on Palestine — and we are still holding the University to it.

What we do

Three things, every week of term.

Events

Talks, screenings and socials

Speakers, film nights, iftars and fundraisers, mostly on campus and free to attend. Bring a friend.

Campaigns

Pressure where it counts

Divestment from the University, scholarships for students in Gaza, and the letters and actions that get us there.

Education

History, mapped and read

An interactive map of Palestinian cities, a reading list, and a book club that actually finishes the book.

Book club · reading now

The Wretched of the Earth

Frantz Fanon, a chapter at a time. No prior reading needed and no one is tested on it — turn up, argue, eat something. Dates go out in the group chat.

Campaign

Gaza 40

Forty students in Gaza have won fully funded scholarships to study in the UK. Two of them, Karam and Bahzad, are coming to Manchester — if they can get out.

Get involved

Come to one thing this term.

Membership goes through the Students’ Union and takes about a minute. Most of our events are free and open to all!
